Pop of Pink

Glad I picked up this skirt when I did at h+m online, it was gone a few days later. Wore this outfit to a Breast Cancer Awareness event, since I don't have many pink dressy clothes I went with an all black combo with a nice pop of pink.

Tinashe Aquarius

The Sound: Laid back R&B with a touch of Janet Jackson and Aaliyah. The beats slowly wash over you and provide a nice mellow groove, the few exceptions are the lead single 2 On (featuring Schoolboy Q) and All Hands on Deck which has a much more upbeat tempo.

Her Style:  Sporty chic, kind of an updated Aaliyah with baggy pants, jerseys and crop tops with sneakers.

The Verdict: Her debut album is the sound that I have been missing for the past few years. It's in constant rotation on my iPod. Do yourself a favor and cop this album and if you like what you hear, check out Tinashe's mix tapes here.

The Round Up: Tinashe, the Perfect Denim and Raining or Sprinkling?

Here are a few of my favorites from around the web.

R&B singer Tinashe's* new album Aquarius released last week (and is on a constant loop in my car) she chatted with the Cut about her influences (Janet Jackson), her process for writing music, and her style.

I loved Hallie's take on pink for Breat Cancer Awareness Month over at the Hallie Daily.

Kendi of Kendi Everyday has a great post up on the color of the season: camel.

When you get a minute check out Rachel of the Daily Luxe denim quiz to find your perfect pair (I'm a straight leg)! Bonus points +++, she has the do's and don'ts of each style.

I went on to lunch at the Cheesecake Factory on Saturday (stay with me) and had an amazing dish, the Pasta da Vinci! It's pasta with mushrooms, shallots and chicken in a wine sauce it's rich in flavor and delish, so of course I had to find a copycat recipe to make at home! I have plans to try Chef Pablo's take on my new fave here.

Finally, my favorite video of the moment, these two little kid's arguing over the rain, it's the cutest thing ever (Best line: "You poked my heart.") Have a great week guys!

*A review of Tinashe's album will be up later this week! Don't wait for the review though, pick up Aquarius!

Boots for Fall

Living in Miami I am always jealous of people who live up north and get to wear layers and sweaters for fall. Fortunately, Miami does get a bit of cool weather every now in then starting in late October/November, so I get to break out a pair or two of my favorite boots. On those not so cool days booties are low enough and comfortable enough to wear with my favorite jeans. Best part? The shoes listed below go up to size 12 in most colors. Have a great day!

MashTV: Monday Night TV Sleepy Hollow Return!!

I'm sure I'm not the only one super excited to see where Abby and Ichabod find themselves at the start of the second season of Sleepy Hollow! It feels like I've been waiting for a whole year (the first season ended last January) and the wait is over tonight. Apparently the show picks up right where the season finale left off with Abbie in purgatory (a dollhouse no less) and Ichabod buried alive.

Here's a sneak peek.

Floral + Stripes

So while going through these photos I noticed that the necklace was partially hidden under my shirt. Still a cute necklace though, it adds the right pop of color to some of my favorite looks.

That Nose Ring Tho

I have always been a fan of the nose ring, that is until I actually saw one getting done (thanks Katy Perry). That doesn't mean I can't still admire the look though. Lady Gaga and Rihanna make the septum piercing look chic, while Erica Badu has the original old school version that I've always admired. After visiting Freshtrends for earrings, I have a renewed interest in getting that nose piercing. Check out my favorite looks from Pinterest.

Movies to Watch: Begin Again

Kiera Knightley and Mark Ruffalo in "Begin Again"

Girl meets boy, girl falls for boy, boy breaks girls heart. Seems simple right? Not exactly, Begin Again is the charming tale of a singer-songwriter who finds herself after heartbreak in the Big Apple. Along the way she meets a failed record exec and helps bring him back to life to with great music and New York City as a back drop.

I truly adored this film from beginning to end, mainly because it's about the enduring power of friendship and the music as I said before was amazing, had know idea Kiera Knightley could sing so well!! If you haven't watched it yet, I urge you to check it out. I would point you to the soundtrack on Spotify, but you should see the movie first to get a feel for it. Trailer below:

Orphan Black

Who else is watching the brilliance that is Orphan Black? That amazing show that showcases the beyond fabulous performance of Tatiana Maslany? If you haven't watched it yet, let me catch you up: a grifter takes over another woman's life, who just happens to look like her. The catch - she's her clone. Soon Sarah, finds herself immeshed in a tangled web that includes her and her fellow clones running from two separate groups who want to use them. Each episode is a none stop road of fun.

I've brought this up to say that in the coming weeks I plan on running outfit posts based on each of the main clones: Sara, Helena, Cosima and Alison. For instance, Sara is none for her punk aesthetic with skinny jeans, cool t-shirts and a leather jacket along with body jewelry from some place like FreshTrends. You can catch up from the beginning on Amazon Prime. For now, check out the trailer below.
